Prayer Trip: Impression 1What impressions were there?War memories - Flattened towns – New lifeThree of us came together at 10.00 am drinking coffee and sharing. We read from 2 Kings 6.15 “Open their eyes Lord” We said, “Please Lord Open Our eyes”! Isaiah 43.18-19 “forget the former things see I am doing a new thing…”. We left Groeningen around 11.00 am heading towards Stevensbeek then Westerbeek, Vredepeel, Ysselsteyn, Veulen, Heide, Merselo, Overloon, by Vierlingsbeek and back to Groeningen. For two hours, we travelled, prayed, interceded, as we drove through rich beautiful agriculture land. The main farming is cropping, milking cows, pigs and growing trees and shrubs. What hit us was the stark reality of war at the cemetery in Overloon There was not one building left standing during the war - everything totally flattened. Nothing was identifiable, only, a few family photos. These were underground in cellars. Many, many lives were lost in this part of The Netherlands. A war was fought and for what purpose? People were freed and released that was 5 May in 1945. People re-established their lives and now live in peace. 22 March 2007 we were fighting a war. This is to see people free, re-establish their lives and to live in peace. Today many lives and families are broken. We fight to see them healed and find purpose in life. We go on fighting to set people free from the bondages of evil. 10 towns with a population of 10.000 people. As far as we know 4 evangelicals. At the cemetery in Overloon the Music of “Grote God we loven U” (“Lord we Praise You”???,) was coming out of the loud speakers. Yes, God is opening our eyes and giving new life. A Prayer trip through different townsWhat did God do? After sharing together from Amos 3.7-8 and Ephesians 6, 10 & 20 and drinking coffee the five of us headed off from Groeningen. This was with the impression that God would reveal something of the spiritual battle to us His children. We travelled towards Stevensbeek going onto Oploo, Westerbeek, De Rips, Elsendorp, Landhorst, Ledeacker, Sint Antonis, Sambeek, Vortum Mullem and returning to Groeningen. It was a beautiful spring day with all the fresh new green growth. These 11 towns have a population of 20.364 people and 8 evangelicals as far as we know. Each village has its special history and uniqueness. God did give fresh and new revelation. This was especially for three towns. If it were not for God and hope in Him this would be a very, very depressing and gloomy situation. In these towns we were clearly reminded of what is in Galatians 5.19-21. There is so much pain and many gruesome stories of broken people. It is horrendous. There is also a story behind what we saw. Last year one seemly quiet town gave a picture and confirmation of their committed to the devil. This was by placing a sculpture of a man size devil on a pole overlooking the Church. It gives an image of the devil protecting the church and the people. Pray for a clean brake. That God will take this village back for Himself. Pray that He will rise up people with the testimony and challenge as in Micah 6.8b NIV “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” |
